How to actually finish Hue Vials (empty tubes, undo, and 40 levels)

Hue Vials is the pour-puzzle we put first in the starter path: 40 handcrafted tubes, same-color-only pours, undo, and an extra empty glass when you paint yourself into a corner.

The only legal pour

Tap a tube to pick it up. Tap another to pour. You may pour a color onto the same color, or into an empty tube. You may not pour a color onto a different color. That is the whole rule. Everything else — undo, restart, the + empty tube — exists because people break that rule in their heads while the glass is still in their hand.

Forty levels is a complete set. It is not a live-ops treadmill and it is not infinite procedurally generated sludge. When you finish, you finished the campaign we shipped. Progress writes in this browser when a level completes. Close a private window and you are at the start again.

Empty tubes are working memory

An empty tube is not a waste. It is the buffer that lets you park a stack so you can free a buried color. If you fill every extra glass “because it looks tidy,” you will deadlock a board that was solvable. Keep at least one empty (or a tube you can empty) as a parking spot. That habit is the difference between level 8 and level 28.

The + control adds an extra empty when you are truly stuck. Use it after you have undo’d a bad pour, not as the first tap. If you add empties on every board you will finish 40 levels without learning the pour rule. The puzzle shelf guide puts Hue Vials first because it is the gentlest place to learn “legal move” thinking before Stall Slide’s arrows.

Undo versus restart

Undo is for the last pour you regret. Restart is for the board you scrambled beyond recognition. There is no shame in restart. There is waste in undo-spamming while you refuse to look at which color is trapped under a stack. Put the tube down and read the tops before the next tap.

Home opens the level list. You can hop. You do not have to grind in order if a later board is unlocked — but early boards teach the pour. Skipping to a hard one because the thumbnail is pretty is how people quit and call color-sort “the same game as every other site.” On this site the 40 layouts are the product. Play them.

When a stack is actually stuck

If a color is buried, you need an empty or a matching top to pour the blocker away. If two tubes both have mixed stacks and no empty, you already lost — undo until you have a buffer, or restart. Do not add three extra tubes as a substitute for looking. The extra empty is a valve, not a second campaign mode.

Pour the longest matching run you can when the destination is empty, so you do not dribble one blob at a time and clog the buffer. When you are sorting the last two colors, empty space is still useful; do not celebrate early and pour the wrong top into a finished tube.

Phone, sound, and how this page relates to ads

Portrait. Tap. No keyboard. Sound is inside the build if it has any. Fullscreen is optional; you may want the site’s how-to visible underneath on your first levels. Click-to-play still loads the puzzle only after you commit, so the homepage grid stays light.

We write this much about one title because a pour-puzzle with unique copy is publisher content. A page that only said “sort the colors, have fun” next to an iframe is the thin inventory Google’s policies describe. The game page has how-to, tips, and FAQ. This guide is the extra commentary so a human can finish the set without a YouTube copy.

What to play when 40 tubes are done

Stall Slide and Grid Getaway if you liked order-of-move. Ink Flow if you want liquid with physics instead of discrete pours. Mergis if you want numbers that merge instead of colors that sort. Dart Clear if you want a 200-board marathon and you already like “this tile is not free yet.”

Do not jump to Layer Twist expecting the same calm. A 3x3 cube starts a timer on first twist. Heart Path is fifteen boards with no clock — a better cool-down than a cube scramble after a long Hue Vials sitting.

A first sitting that actually finishes boards

Play levels 1–3 without the extra empty tube. Use undo once on purpose so you know where it is. Then try a mid-set board from the list. If you deadlock, restart the level rather than stacking three extra glasses. Forty handcrafted layouts is the whole product — rushing them with + taps is how they all feel the same.

The puzzle-order guide is the shelf map. This page is the pour rule. If you came from search for “color sort,” you are in the right slug: Hue Vials, not a clone with a generic blurb. The game page still has the short how-to and FAQ; read those if you only need one screen of help.
